The Highpoint in Auckland is quite literally their tower which sticks out over the city like an alien invasion. In fact it was quite stunning driving into the city and seeing that dominating the skyline.
There are a number of attractions in it, not just the observation gallery so we decided to go and check it out.
In the basement is a small exhibition of props and stuff from the films made by Weta Digital, the NZ operation responsible for the visual effects in films that you can guess based on the photos above, although if anyone knows where the steampunk guns from please tell me. Peter Jackson, owns Weta and is from New Zealand hence the attraction being here.
The observation platform is very good offering wonderful views over the city.
For those that like jumping off high buildings there's a Skyjump here. I'd already done one in South Korea so wasn't too bothered about doing this one, plus it was closed anyway as we'd got back quite late. The red circle is the landing point from the jump, just so you know.
The drop is about 200 metres.
That's the Auckland Harbour bridge, not as famous as it's Sydney brother. There's a bungee jump platform under that if you're still interested in jumping off things.
