Jawa Timur Park 1

Jawa Timur Park 1 is a large educational theme park located in the town of Batu, in fact it's one of 3 parks in the area so the town is clearly trying to become some sort of resort area; an Indonesian take on Orlando perhaps. Jawa Timur Park 1 is the theme park, Jawa Timur Park 2 is the newly opened zoo and Batu Night's Spectacular is a night time park.

The entrance is huge with 6 entry gates however today 5 of them were chained up, a sign that it was going to be a quiet day.

The second entrance which confused us. The park is off behind the head but that door was locked. Instead we had to go through the educational bit through the left.

The long way round was a test for those itching to ride but I thought it was quite amusing. I'm not sure what's being taught here.

and this display is a little bit odd.

This is the body room where you can learn about teeth types...

...and the states of pregnancy. Don't laugh at this as despite the dense population here in Indonesia you don't see many pregnant young girls like we do in the UK.

Impressive chess set and we would have attempted a game had we not had other reasons to be here.

The gardens are quite nice and today we had no choice but to go through them.

Leaving the indoor section and into the model village section of the park that was very well done indeed.

Cute toilet sign.

Having finally gotten into the park the first coaster we came across was an unlisted one! In Indonesian "ulat" is caterpillar. The ride was tiny and it took some convincing to have the ride op let us ride it. We knew we were too big to ride but we were able to squeeze in and one-at-a-time she allowed us to ride it.

The park actually contained a good selection of rides, keeping both the grown ups...

...and the little ones happy.

The biggest coaster in the park and one designed for grown ups is the spinning mouse coaster. Be wary that they only despatch the cars when they've got 4 people in the queue line so if you're visiting alone be prepared to wait.

The view from the ride was quite spectacular despite the fact a stupid storm was on it's way. The ride was let down by being filled up, we know these spin their best when there's an odd number of people in the trains.

At the back corner of the park is this really well done water park. Whilst it was humid enough to justify using it was odd that it was also quite chilly and clearly in a rainy area. Still the locals were enjoying it!

Stupid theming, but he seemed happy.

Any park that has TMNT theming is a good park in my books.

The most welcoming of benches.

The final coaster in the park is a powered single-helix dragon that was sent out when that rain storm had kicked in. I got completely soaked and decided to run back to the taxi through the rain. I was already wet so why wait in the dry for it to stop? (I soon realised that the others in the group did just that)

During the run back I hit a snag in that the educational section had been locked up and there was no way of getting out of the park. I'd clearly missed another exit somewhere else and shouldn't have come back this way. A kind park employee gave me a backlot tour of the park to assist me.

Crazy theming here!

Strange lizard theming. I like the one with the gun!

Manga bins!

Jawa Timur Park is a surprisingly good park that is getting continuing investment. Some of the rides were clearly new and whilst we were there we could see construction going on with a fourth coaster that was going to be built in a man-made volcano structure at the top of the hill. A reason to go back here for sure.
The park is clearly off the beaten track, in fact the ride ops on the mouse told us that the last westerners they saw there were one tall guy and one fat guy, who we recognised as being George and Tal; two friends who'd visited here in 2011. It would be interesting to find out how they'd describe our group to the next set of visitors :)
