Wonderland Fun Park

In the NW of Melbourne there used to be a huge observation wheel called The Southern Star. It originally opened in 2008 but soon after cracks were discovered and investigations highlighted some major design flaws. So the city had no choice but to pull it down and re-do it. Under the ride there's a small collection of rides including a coaster, which wasn't known about until the Theme Park Review guys rode it on their tour here last year.

The wheel in it's current state. Still some way to go by the look of things.

Uh Oh. Today is Friday.

We didn't get to ride this one as the park couldn't open. I did speak to the ride owner to see if there was anything he could do but he had no control over the power to the site, and there was none today. Ah well!

With no permanent power there's clearly no knowing how long these rides will remain. The optimist in me says that it'll remain as long as the wheel is down. So I might be able to get it next time.
