Crystal Mountain Theme Park

For years it was understood that Rainbow's End was the only park with permanent coasters in its line-up. That was until I began researching this trip when I came across another a short drive west of Auckland.

Again I'm sure you'll agree that I must be retarded to have spotted this one, some might say "special". Anyway, the park is called Crystal Mountain Theme Park and is predominantly a childrens farm and crystal museum.

The main entrance with one of the crystals as the centre piece. This isn't a big operation by any stretch of the imagination and be careful driving to it as it's easy to miss. We'd gotten there early so decided to have breakfast and I recommend the eggs benedict with salmon!

Entry to the park includes a bag of grain and you can't just buy tickets for the coaster without getting one. So I took mine and attempted to feed the animals. The black and white goat stole the entire bag whilst I was trying to feed the ostrich. Git!

There aren't many rides that are in the middle of a farm, an unusual addition for them but a great reason to spend an extra day in Auckland for us.

The coaster appeared to be a standard kiddy coaster but having ridden it we thought the layout was unique with a slightly higher lift and unusual layout. There was also a lovely little airtime hill on it, which you don't usually get. Looks like some more research into this ride is needed...
