The drive to Sydney went better than expected so we decided to jump the gun and visit the park in the evening and to return in the morning for more. The pictures below are a mixture across the two days, it's quieter in the morning than the evening which will explain why there's a mixture of quiet and busy photos.
You get a great view of both the bridge and the opera house from the entrance to the park.
and if you squint you can see people doing the bridge walk. It was too hot for us to even contemplate going up there.
The entrance is similar than the one in Melbourne but this one looked a little more polished. I'm quite sure the location of the park was skewing my judgement somewhat. This is quite simply one of the best located amusement parks in the world.
A rather empty park. It opens very early with the attractions opening a few hours later.
The wooden mouse coaster, number three of the trip was running pretty well. Better than Lamongan's but still nowhere near as much fun as the Jawa Timur 2 one. We did have a good number of rides on this one however making good use of the $49 wristband.
Funny Land is the indoor playground. The entrance looked like a fun house so it was surprising to walk in and see this huge play space including one of those spinning floors that used to exist at Southport.
The park archive is also located in side here with lots of old historical photos of the park. We spent quite a bit of time just checking these out; easily overlooked!
Behind the fun house there's a smaller gathering of rides that over Christmas did include a second coaster, now removed :(
You can get good photos of the mouse from the top of the wheel.
There's another good vantage point from a car park overlooking the park.
Whilst not the biggest park in the world, there's plenty here to keep everyone entertained.
Loving the artwork on the exterior of this ride.
There's a crazy kinex coaster in the gift shop, which has some great merchandise including books on the park's history. There aren't many parks that are able to offer that!
Like Blackpool the park have made great use of space with some rides located on the roofs of others.
Scary blowjob clown parade!
Australian albinos are peculiar creatures.
Perhaps the most normal attraction in the park, but even the mural around the walls was great.
Is it a luna park or a sola park?
Even the fairground stalls are well themed.
Loving the old style signs.
This was my favourite!
Quite simply Luna Park Sydney is one of the most picturesque parks on the planet. It has a wonderful old school vibe and whilst the rides aren't the most amazing I know that I could spend a day there and still be thoroughly entertained. The people of Sydney have a real gem in their city, and whilst I know it's history has been as up and down as some of their rides I hope the people realise what they've got and do what's needed to ensure it's survival. It would be a real shame if it ever went.
After the park we headed over to the new Hard Rock Cafe in Darling Harbour for dinner and we were fortunate to be given a terrace table not realising after our show a firework display would go off. We had the best view in the house and whilst not as great as their New Year show, the display was still impressive.
The border means more than a customs house, a passport officer, a man with a gun. Over there everything is going to be different; life is never going to be quite the same again after your passport has been stamped. Cheap flights to Sydney
